Bullet Points - We Are The World, Oscar Nominations, Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Producer Quincy Jones, famous for his work with Michael Jackson, and Lionel Richie have been hard at work with 80 other celebrities to remake the charity anthem "We Are The World" in an effort to raise money for the ongoing relief efforts in Haiti.

Pink, Kanye West, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Brian Wilson and others are set to appear on the song which will premiere during NBC's coverage of the Winter Olympic games.
To add more of a 21st century twist to thing, LL Cool J, Wyclef Snoop Dogg, and Lil Wayne will perform a rap breakdown written by will.i.am. (nothing says earthquake relief like auto tuned interludes)
The original version was recorded in 1985 and written by Richie and Jackson to fight hunger in Africa. The tune raised $30 million. You can listen below.

While the Oscars may be a night for cinema, great music is still rewarded. Below are the nominees for best original song and best original score.
Best Original Song
"Almost There" by Randy Newman (The Princess And The Frog)
"Down In New Orleans" by Randy Newman (The Princess And The Frog)
"Loin de Paname" by Reinhardt Wagner and Frank Thomas (Paris 36)
"Take It All" by Maury Yeston (Nine)
"The Weary Kind" by Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett (Crazy Heart)
Best Original Score
Avatar - James Horner
Fantastic Mr. Fox - Alexandre Desplat
The Hurt Locker - Marco Beltrami and Buck Sanders
Sherlock Holmes - Hans Zimmer
Up - Michael Giacchino
I was kind of surprised to not see Karen O make the list for best original song for her work on Where The Wild Things Are. This isn't the first time the Oscars have snubbed big time stars and Bruce Springsteen's work for The Wrestler was left out of last year's awards.
You can see the entire list of nominees for the Oscars here. The awards will be shown on March 7th.
