Weezer front man Rivers Cuomo is in the hospital with three cracked ribs, internal injuries as well as a lower leg injury after the band's tour bus skidded on ice on I-90 in upper New York before plowing into a ditch.
Cuomo's assistant was also injured. The driver as well as Cuomo's wife and child were unharmed.
Cuomo, who was asleep at the back of the bus when the accident occurred, had to be extracted from the vehicle through a rear window via the jaws of life.
Band assistant Karl Koch wrote on the band's website, "He (Cuomo) is resting about as comfortably as could be expected now, and we are relieved to hear that surgery is unlikely."
As a result of the accident the band has cancelled the remainder of their December concerts.
